“How Safe Is My Money?” (Part 1)

November 2, 2017 - 0 comments

If there’s one question that’s hard to ask your financial advisor, it’s this one: “Hey, advisor, are you taking good care of my money?”

It’s one of the trickiest ones around, because what are the odds any advisor is going to tell you when they’re not?  Even Bernie Madoff probably assured his clients they had nothing to fear.

That’s what makes this an especially good “No Dumb Questions” candidate. So good, in fact, it warrants a two-part answer.

I’ll begin by introducing you to one of Canada’s most important investor safety nets – the Canadian Investor Protection Fund (CIPF). When does the CIPF kick in on your behalf? We’ll talk about that today. Then, in my next video, we’ll talk about other good ways to safeguard yourself and your money.
