Our growing team needs an Assistant to the Portfolio Managers. This is a great opportunity to work within an experienced wealth management team, delivering best-in-class service to sophisticated clients. The primary responsibilities in this role are to manage cash inflows and outflows across client accounts, track incoming account transfers, trade securities in client accounts, ensure efficient and accurate delivery of client reports and support the production of client account paperwork.

  • 5 Years in a Canadian brokerage firm or similar organization
  • Experience trading securities on Canadian and US stock exchanges
  • Completed Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Conduct and Practices Handbook Course (CPH), 90 day training and licensed as a Registered Representative an asset
  • Experience with brokerage systems and software and a strong command of Microsoft Office suite.


1. Cash Management:

  • Track incoming and execute outgoing regular and ad-hoc cash transfers
  • Process wire transfers, request cheques and send electronic funds transfers
  • Work with portfolio management team to ensure that client accounts remain fully invested

2.  Account transfer tracking:

  • Submit and oversee incoming client account transfers
  • Resolve transfer issues and ensure timely delivery
  • Reconcile security positions and ensure correct recording of Adjusted Cost Bases (ACBs)

3. Trading and portfolio implementation:

  • Work with portfolio management team to implement client portfolios
  • Trade account positions and manage block trades from time to time
  •  Reconcile monthly trading reports and fees

4. Reporting, Communications & Mailings:

  • Support brokerage team in sending monthly and annual client reports
  • Set up and manage electronic statements and online portal accesses for clients
  • Assist clients with online accesses and password resets

5. Paperwork:

  • Prepare account paperwork for new clients
  • Prepare account paperwork updates for existing clients
  • Ensure timely follow-up of outstanding client paperwork

6. Files and databases:

  • Assist in organizing and managing client files and databases
  • Support tracking and retrieval of client data for wealth management activities
