Higher Risk, Lower Returns: Investors in Hedge Funds Underperform!

Hedge funds have enjoyed spectacular popularity over the past 20 years, now having over $2 trillion invested. One big reason for this popularity was their supposed superior performance over traditional investments, such as mutual funds or ETFs. But have investors really benefited from hedge funds?

A recent study analyzed over 20 years of data for more than 11,000, and demonstrates that investors’ actual returns are 3-7% LOWER than the corresponding funds’ buy-and-hold returns.
