PWL Capital’s Environmental Plan

Stopping climate change is a moral responsibility

  • Environmental issues, such as climate change and responsible consumption, have moved from the philosophical arena to real life
  • PWL takes its moral responsibility seriously and has translated ideas into action with the first ever PWL Climate Plan
  • The PWL Climate Plan is a living document that encourages sound environmental practices for our business and our clients
  • It will evolve over time
  • For businesses as for individuals, measurement of consumption practices are necessary to track progress
  • The Ecological Footprint is the measurement tool of choice

The PWL Climate Plan is a call-to-action
PWL’s Board and Management believe they have a moral responsibility to do their part to limit climate change. PWL is taking a leadership position by developing and implementing a corporate Climate Plan. PWL believes that modeling eco-friendly behaviours in business will result in:

  • Greater awareness of sustainability
  • Greater awareness of tools and measurements that exist to track progress
  • Greater numbers of companies adopting eco-friendly practices
  • A sense of empowerment for both corporate and individual citizens to take action

What gets measured, gets done

  • Establishing an Ecological Footprint1  is a great starting point
  • The Ecological Footprint can be calculated for individuals, businesses, municipalities and nations.
  • It enables the setting of realistic goals and focuses people on the need to protect our planet, reduce waste and adopt sound consumption practices
  • The Ecological Footprint benchmarks consumption practices and recommends ways to reduce the negative impact to the Earth
  • Businesses, communities and citizens all should adopt sustainable consumption practices in order to ‘do their part’ to stop climate change.

PWL Climate Plan - A Good Start
PWL is taking a leadership position by implementing its first corporate
Climate Plan:

  • Paper Reduction: The PWL Paper Challenge has a goal of reducing paper usage by 15%
  • Carbon Emissions Reduction: PWL subsidizes monthly Public Transport passes for all employees by 50 %
  • Fossil Fuel Reduction: PWL has adopted web-based internal meetings which limits need for air/ground travel
  • Encourage Involvement: PWL has set up an Eco-Ideas billboard for employees to share new ideas for sound environmental practices
  • PWL Ecological Footprint:  PWL is calculating its Ecological Footprint to measure and track eco-progress.  Eventually corporate  ‘green goals’ can be implemented.
  • Sponsor Thought Leadership: Encourage client/employee involvement by sponsoring thought provoking and informative client events on climate change

Moving from Hope to Action

  • PWL is proud to be a leader in taking action on environmental issues
  • Modeling eco-friendly behaviour can only increase awareness and participation
  • We encourage companies, communities and individuals to take action as well
